Now approaching its sixth year of helping to fund extraordinary experiences for deserving teenagers, the Noah’s Gift 5K Run-Walk-Skate is set to help a whole new slate of candidates achieve their dreams with funds from the event that will be happening this year on October 15.
A new category for “ghost runners” will allow people who can’t physically be at the race that day to participate.
“Noah’s Gift has many out-of-town supporters, including Noah’s friends and former grant recipients who are now at college or in other places around the country, who would like to take part in remembering and honoring him or helping others, an activity for which he was well-remembered,” event director Glenda Gurley said. “They will receive a shirt, wristband and race bag with their registration, like all our participants. This is also a great option for local supporters who may have a conflict on the day of the race. We want them to be as much a part of the event as possible.”
NG5K Planning Committee member Lanier Hurdle said the race committee is thankful for the support the City of Hernando has given to the event every year.
“Hernando is a beautiful town for walking and running events and we, along with all of our grant recipients, are very grateful to the Mayor and Board of Alderman of the City of Hernando for all of their cooperation in allowing Noah's 5K to take place,” Hurdle said.
To honor Noah Costa’s love of ice skating and roller blading, the annual event held in memory and in honor of his life features a special 7:55 a.m. start for skaters, followed by an 8 a.m. start for runners and walkers. Registration will be available beginning this summer at http://www.racesonline.com/events/noahs-gift-5k. Proceeds benefit Noah’s Gift grant program for teens. Learn more at www.noahsgift.org.
